<p>The Poway Unified School District and the Poway Unified School District Foundation are proud to announce that Northrop Grumman Corporation has been awarded the Community Partner of the Year Award by the Association of California School Administrators and San Diego County School Boards Association. A special Awards Ceremony, “Honoring Our Own,” was held on April 26 at the Sheraton San Diego Hotel &amp; Marina. Accepting the award on behalf of Northrop Grumman were Jim Zortman, Vice President, and Karen Goetz, Corporate Citizenship Representative.</p>
<p>As a community leader, Northrop Grumman serves a vital role in supporting the students, schools, and programs within Poway Unified School District. Northrop Grumman realizes the importance of education in preparing students for their future and maintains a strong commitment to programs that improve education and promote student achievement.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation and Echo Pacific Construction, Inc. invites you to the Plaza at the Poway Center for the Performing Arts  on Saturday, June 15, for the second annual  Taste of Our Towne II, an epicurean extravaganza and a night of fine dining, sumptuous wines, dancing, music, prizes and more.</p>
<p>Taste of Our Towne II is a party with a cause. The event will raise money in support of the POW! Foundation’s Art in Education Initiative and the Professional Performance Series. The drawing for the winner of the 2013 Lexus Hybrid Raffle will take place that night as well.</p>
<p>“Taste of Our Towne II is an important part of POW! Foundation’s ability to provide quality programming at the Center and in our schools. Ticket sales cover only a portion of the costs to present our Professional Performance season and keep arts education alive in our schools,” said Executive Director Michael Rennie. “This fabulous party, brought together by our exceptional committee, makes these programs possible. Taste of our Towne II is also a great event where the community gathers on the Plaza, the food and wine served is delicious, the live and silent auction items are one-of-a-kind and the entertainment is unique &#8212; truly a very special night!”</p>
<p>NBC 7’s Whitney Southwick will serve a Master of Ceremonies. Poway and Rancho Bernardo’s finest restaurants along with Poway and Ramona Valley vintners will offer samples of their signature sips and dishes.</p>
<p>Taste of Our Towne will begin in the lobby of the Poway Center for the Performing Arts with a champagne toast, music from young jazz prodigies The Pizzaro Brothers and the chance to bid on attractive silent and live auction items. After the close of the silent auction, the party moves to the plaza for music and dancing to the Latin fusion music of Gipsymenco    while guests enjoy delicious food and drink and the opportunity to bid on many one-of-a-kind  live auction items. At the end of the evening, Geico will sponsor a safe ride home to any attendees who choose to partake. Tickets may be purchased online at www.powayarts.org or by calling 858-668-4798.</p>

				<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>JenLovesPets is proud to announce Jennifer Taylor, Owner and Chief Pack Leader has completed the Pet Tech Instructor Training, a comprehensive three-day interactive program. Instructors learn the necessary skills and teaching methods to properly train pet owners in first aid and care. This course included competent training in the identification and evaluation of the signs and symptoms a pet may develop and the appropriate actions to be taken for proper emergency medical treatment. Jennifer Taylor will be teaching Pet Tech&#8217;s Pet Saver Program, an eight hour course that covers restraining and muzzling, primary assessment, rescue breathing, canine and feline CPR, choking, bleeding, shock management, pet vitals, snout-to-tail assessment, first aid kit essentials, bites, stings, heat and cold injuries, seizures and caring for your senior pet.</p>
<p>Jennifer Taylor is the owner of JenLovesPets, one of Pet Techs instructors is now teaching the Pet Savor Class in San Diego&#8217;s north county community of Rancho Peñasquitos. This year, JenLovesPets plans on utilizing the Pet Tech Instructor Training by teaching the Pet Tech&#8217;s Pet Saver Program in the local pet loving community of Rancho Peñasquitos.</p>
<p>“It’s important to educate the pet-owning public about the benefits of taking the PetSaver Pet CPR, First Aid &amp; Care class, knowing the skills and techniques of pet first aid can mean the difference between life and death for your pet,” Taylor adds.</p>
