PQ Council Recognizes Students
Posted on May 18, 2011
Among the recognitions and awards presented on the Main Stage at the 16th Annual Fiesta de los Penasquitos in May, were a number of “Student Certificates of Appreciation.”
Following the presentation of colors by Boy Scout Troop 667 and Cub Scout Pack 626 and the singing of the National Anthem by Jennica Vargas, San Diego City Councilmember Sherri Lightner made these presentations on behalf of the Rancho Penasquitos Town Council.
Student Certificates of Appreciation:
Jonathan Cline – Adobe Bluffs Elementary School
Jonathan is an active member of the Boy Scout Troup 676 and is active in helping older scouts with Eagle projects and collecting food items for charity. He is on Safety Patrol, math and science field days.
Faizan Jamil – Canyon View Elementary School
During most vacations, Faizan volunteers his time at Solaris, a retirement community. He reads to patients who cannot read themselves, and he participates in Bingo with the residents.
Allison Bao – Deer Canyon Elementary School
Allison serves her community by picking up trash, and recycling. She is also a Safety Patrol at school, and joined Rebuild Together — a nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalizing communities.
Alexas Colvin – Los Penasquitos Elementary School
Alexas, a 5th grader, is President of the Student Council at her school, and also helps raise money for different organizations, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Danny Yim – Sunset Hills
Danny is the kind of young man who will go out of his way to help an old lady cross the street. On his last class field trip, that’s what exactly Danny did. He assisted an elderly lady because she needed help. Danny is also a Student Council President, and a member of the safety patrol and the recycling crew.
Jordan Mauch – Mesa Verde Middle School
Jordan has volunteered at soup kitchens and food banks in San Diego. During the summer, he likes to volunteer at retirement homes.
Christine Bradley – Black Mountain Middle School
