Philips Retiring as Poway School Superintendent
Posted on June 27, 2010
A significant transition occurs June 30, when Superintendent Don Phillips concludes a 40-year career in education — including nine years leading the Poway Unified School District.
Replacing Phillips at the helm of PUSD is Deputy Superintendent John Collins.
Philips, 61, served as principal at three high schools in different districts before serving as associate superintendent of the Vista Unified School District. Prior to joining PUSD, Philips was superintendent at Palo Alto Unified School District.
PUSD includes 37 campuses, including Mt. Carmel High School and Westview High School.
